JAMS Recognizes Juneteenth

Juneteenth Freedom Day

Today, June 19, or Juneteenth, commemorates the day in 1865 that Union soldiers reached Galveston, Texas, to announce that all slaves were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. While we reflect on the important events of Juneteenth, we also use this time to think about the steps we must take to achieve true equality in our country. JAMS is committed to fighting the racism, inequality and injustice that continue to plague our country, and to standing with the voices that need to be heard as we work toward a better tomorrow.

“Diversity is a core value that drives our organization forward every day,” said Mark Smalls, chair of the JAMS Diversity Committee and chief marketing officer. “We could not effectively serve the legal and business communities without the diverse perspectives of our Black panelists and employees. Today and every day, we honor our Black colleagues and clients, and all Black Americans, and believe in creating a diverse and inclusive work environment and culture at JAMS.”

At JAMS, we are dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion efforts in the alternative dispute resolution industry and pursuing increased diversity among our panelists and employees.
