Retired Judge Kathleen R. Gearin Joins JAMS in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Kathleen R. Gearin, retired Ramsey County District judge to its panel. Ms. Gearin will be based in the JAMS Minneapolis Resolution Center and serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Administrative Law, Appellate, Business/Commercial, Employment, Estate/Probate/Trust, Family Law, Governmental/Public Agency, Insurance, Personal Injury/Torts, Professional Liability and Real Property.

Ms. Gearin joins JAMS after serving for 26 years as a Ramsey County District Judge in St. Paul. She is most widely known for assuring essential government services for Minnesotans during a 2008 government shutdown. She typically engaged in discussions with parties in an effort to resolve matters and was often successful because of her ability to analyze the underlying issues and her sensitive, practical and direct manner.

“Ms. Gearin knows what it takes to get parties to the table and to successfully resolve disputes,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “Her ability to manage complex matters with integrity and decisiveness makes her an excellent addition to our panel.”

Ms. Gearin received her B.A., with honors, from College of St. Catherine and her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law.
