ABA TECHSHOW 2022

Presented by American Bar Association Law Practice Division

Technology is becoming fully integrated in the practice of law. Our legal work is now more dependent on the use of technology, in and out of the office. It helps us to practice more efficiently, serve clients more effectively, and better manage our daily lives.

As technology evolves, it can be difficult to stay informed of the latest advancements. With so many different options to choose from it can be difficult knowing what’s the most suitable to you and your practice. This is where ABA TECHSHOW can help.

The ABA TECHSHOW Conference and EXPO is where lawyers, legal professionals, and technology all come together. For five days, attendees virtually learn about the most useful and practical technologies available. Our variety of CLE programming offers a great deal of education in just a short amount of time.

The ABA Law Practice Division (LP) provides regular resources on the latest trends in law practice technology.  In addition to organizing ABA TECHSHOW every year, LP publishes a bimonthly magazine, Law Practice; a monthly webzine, Law Practice Today; and numerous technology books including iPad in One Hour for Lawyers, iPad Apps in One Hour for Lawyers, and Google for Lawyers.  All of these combined help our members practice more efficiently and serve clients better through the knowledge and use of technology.

Featured JAMS Session:

Stopping the Trojan Horse: Securing and Preserving Your Business

Featured Speakers:

Daniel B. Garrie, Esq. | JAMS; Law & Forensics
David A. Cass | Law & Forensics; Harvard & Rutgers Law

No one is immune to a cybersecurity incident. Every industry and business sector—including the legal profession—is a target for hackers and cybercriminals. As early as 2009, the FBI flagged the legal industry as a group that was vulnerable to cyber attacks, issuing an advisory that hackers were increasingly targeting law firms.

This discussion explores why law firms need to be proactive and dynamic in their cybersecurity practice; how they can mitigate their vulnerabilities and protect themselves and their clients.

Participants can expect to learn the following during this session:

  • Describe why competent cybersecurity practice is absolutely imperative for any law firm.
  • Illustrate why everyone in the firm must be educated and equipped to maintain good cybersecurity protection.
  • Discuss how the cybercrime landscape is constantly evolving and how you can adapt with the changes.
