The International Virtual Conference on “The Future of Dispute Resolution in Infrastructure Sector”

Presented by Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management (AIIM)

JAMS neutral Philip L. Bruner, Esq. will be featured as a Guest of Honour at the upcoming International Virtual Conference on The Future of Dispute Resolution in Infrastructure Sector (ICDRIS-2021).

The infrastructure sector is often surrounded by conflicts and disputes, mainly due to uncertain environments and the complex nature of these projects. Such disputes result in delays in project implementation, increase in costs, and loss of revenue due to investments getting stuck in the resolution process. In present days, arbitration has become the favoured dispute resolution mechanism due to complexities within the sector itself. Such complexities emerge due to the involvement of multiple parties, high stakes in the infrastructure projects, calculation and determination of the amount of compensation, analysis, assessment and review of huge amounts of data and the required involvement of technical experts for resolution. It is paramount to identify the common problems that lead to disputes in this sector in order to minimize their quantity and hasten a timely development of infrastructure. While arbitration laws have undergone a number of changes over the past years, far more needs to be done for the effective resolution of these disputes. At this juncture, it is important to open a platform for dialogue, discourse and research in the area of dispute resolution in the infrastructure sector.

The conference aims to provide high-level content relevant to students of commerce, management, law, economics, engineering and other allied courses. The conference also provide a platform to young professionals, such as academics, lawyers, policy advisors, arbitrators, engineers and other industry professionals to exhibit their research ideas and engage in a discourse on the future role of dispute resolution mechanisms in the infrastructure sector.
