JAMS presents a multi part, hybrid webinar series of “Cocktails and Conversations”
In partnership with ArbitralWomen, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

Diversity in International Arbitration: Action requires commitment – but from who?

We will continue the discussion about diversity in International Arbitration, which we started in December 2020 via webinar. In the first webinar (Diversity in International Arbitration: Progress in Times of COVID?) we discussed the challenge that women will face because of COVID and the multitude of stressors that many have faced, whilst working from home.

JAMS invites you to play an active role in promoting diversity and inclusion in international arbitration. Join representatives from key organizations with demonstrated leadership in this critical initiative in identifying a clear path for improvement, which will in turn lead to increased opportunities for under-represented groups in the practice. Panelists will examine three different mechanisms that support access and encourage diversity (arbitration apprenticeship, intern/summer associate pledge and a firm commitment to diverse panels). Participating stakeholders will discuss how these mechanisms can be supported by the arbitration community and agree on several key objectives that can be achieved in a twelve month timeframe.

While this initiative will be an ongoing discussion to support inclusion and improvement within key stakeholder groups, participants will be asked to consider becoming a part of this “broadening of opportunities” that will benefit international arbitration practitioners worldwide, both now and in the future.
